Now that I look back on this Carnival 1st Birthday Party, I realised that it was our fourth carnival set up for that week. I was eating carnival for breakfast, lunch and supper! We did three carnival candy bar set ups  for Werksmans Attorneys activation campaign at three different locations; University of Pretoria, Wits and we flew down to UCT as well to set up. For photos of our set ups, visit our instagram page.

The Werksmans Attorneys’ activation campaign was completely different to this 1st Birthday Party.  We had to stick to the campaign colours and all three locations had to be identical. However we did have to adjust our set ups slightly to accommodate our venue space etc… All three carnival candy bar set ups were a huge hit with both my clients and the university students. By the end of that week, I had carnival coming out of my ears! I think It’s safe to say that Outlandish Events is the ringmaster of Carnival themed events!

Carnival 1st Birthday Party Decor set up

With a Carnival themed birthday party, there are so many ways to style one – you can keep it simple or go all wow. This theme comes with a lot of flexibility and as always, I enjoyed styling this event quite a bit. The client and I stuck to the original colours of blue and red.  Our decor set up really transformed the space we were given to work with. This carnival 1st birthday party was nothing short of WOW.

We went all out with bales of hay. Some of the decor items for this Carnival 1st birthday included a wagon wheel, wooden barks and lots of crates. Our centrepieces for the adults table were kept minimal with pinwheels in mason jars. Our pinwheels were all custom made especially for Outlandish Events. We had a carnival booth set up to serve drinks from. Popcorn and candyfloss could not be left out – what’s a carnival without those crucial elements!!

The cake had to have a big top tent and buntings! The cake pops were so adorable – in the shapes of clowns and pop corn boxes. Our bakers never fail to amaze!

We also had a time capsule for this event.. We had guests write stuff about the birthday boy with a message for the future etc.. on a card. These cards were then placed in a jar only to be opened when the birthday boy is old enough. I think it is an awesome idea to implement at any party. It truly captures the memories of an event years later.

Client Review:

The set up was exactly as what the client envisaged and this what she had to say:

“Dear Ishrat,
Hubby and I would like to express our sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to you for the amazing decor setup and coordination for our son’s first birthday party. I am so glad that I found your website while I was searching for a service provider with a difference, someone who could make our event unique and spectacular!
